Welcome to the next Engadget {Engadget}

Nov 19th 2009 9:50AM Whoa! It's going to take some time to get used to the new site, but great job! This is really huge. One question though: Is the new layout going to trickle into other Engadget sites, such as Engadget Español?

Samsung Bada phone to be announced first half of next year {Engadget Mobile}

Nov 18th 2009 10:50PM As soon as the first device with Bada ships, Samsung is going to drop Symbian and Windows Mobile. Remember back when WebOS was introduced, how Palm said there were going to continue support Windows Mobile for business customers? What happened to WinMo-powered Treos?

FCC keen on commandeering TV spectrum for wireless broadband {Engadget Mobile}

Oct 28th 2009 12:07PM I'm as pro-wireless as the next guy but this is unexcusable! First they make everybody switch to a TV system that is inferior in coverage and usability. Then, they reduce the usable TV channels from 67 down to 49 (and from those, channels 2 to 6 are now almost useless)... What do they want? They are not going to be satisfied until they shrink the TV airwaves to only one or two channels (left there for the sake of emergencies) and force everybody to pay for satellite or cable TV.

Verizon's Droid is a series, not just a phone; Droid Eris coming from HTC {Engadget Mobile}

Oct 24th 2009 10:42AM Now it makes sense why Verizon's iDon't commercial for the Droid didn't mention Motorola.

I have only one concern. With Verizon creating fame for themselves as device cripplers, it now seems like they'll try to be different in regards to the Droid. I hope that holds true, but also that they stop crippling BlackBerrys, Windows phones and don't leave the Pre out of their newly found love for openness.

Toshiba Dynario fuel-cell: the battery revolution begins October 29th {Engadget Mobile}

Oct 22nd 2009 2:21PM So you have to carry your device, the external battery with any adapters that may be required, and the fuel cartridges? That's not very portable for me. I pass on this one.

Samsung and TeliaSonera bringing LTE to vikings in 2010 {Engadget Mobile}

Oct 22nd 2009 2:17PM Are those horns photoshopped or are they actually part of the modem's design?

BlackBerry Bold 9700 announced, launching globally starting next month {Engadget Mobile}

Oct 21st 2009 11:38AM Not everybody likes touchscreens. I've had many devices with touchscreens and for me, non-touchscreen devices are way better. I'd rather be efficient than look cool. BlackBerrys (other than the Storms) are the perfect anti-iPhone out there.

As for T-Mobile's 9700, someone dropped the ball on that announcement. This would be their FIRST 3G device to have Wi-Fi calling, not the first BlackBerry to have it. All BlackBerrys for T-Mobile since the Perl 8120 have had Wi-Fi calling.

Samsung Code comes to MetroPCS, Windows Mobile 6.5 decides to stay home {Engadget Mobile}

Oct 21st 2009 11:33AM This is a non-touchscreen device. It's OK to ship with WinMo 6.1 Standard given that 6.5 doesn't bring anything new to the table for non-touchscreen devices. (MyPhone and Marketplace are comming to WinMo 6.1 anyways.)

Samsung develops first chip for US mobile digital TV transmission, provides no release date {Engadget Mobile}

Oct 19th 2009 12:49PM Great! Soon I should be able to use my phone to watch channels 4.3, 6.4 and 60.1 with all the boxy video and adio cutoffs only the ATSC DTV system can provide.

Verizon's anti-iPhone gets its first commercial: 'Droid Does' {Engadget Mobile}

Oct 18th 2009 12:28PM Hmm, the Apple cult vs the Google cult. I hate both, but it'll be fun to watch the battle.

Now, to the Android fanbodys: Keep a copy of this commercial somewhere, so you can hold that "iDon't support open development - Droid Does" against then as soon as they start crippling the phone.
