HTC Tattoo spotted on video, stripped of faceplates {Engadget}

Sep 8th 2009 3:29PM Those Australian guys who introduced, took preorders for, and then canceled the Kogan Agora said they canceled it because they realized that the QVGA screen would be incompatible with some Android apps.

So I wonder if that was BS or if this thing is going to have issues in the future.

First Look: Travel organizer Tripit.com offers iPhone app {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Apr 12th 2009 7:43AM Tripit may be the most useful web app I've seen in quite some time. I travel a lot and it is a lifesaver. The iPhone web app is OK, but the offline feature of this app is brilliant.

Drowning in a sea of spam? Spamsweep can help {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Dec 6th 2008 5:14AM Welcome to TUAW, Mel! You and I worked together in one of our previous lives, and I often wonder where you got to.

You'll be glad to know I switched to Mac a year ago last week. I credit your influence. :)

HP's iPAQ Data Messenger / Voice Messenger get official on Vodafone, hands-on treatment {Engadget Mobile}

Oct 22nd 2008 6:13AM Yes, some languages do. French keyboards also swap the Q/A and W/Z. They're called AZERTY.

I'm pretty disgusted with the iPhone's sluggishness and instability since V2, and would like to switch back to WinMo. But the thought that in this day and age you have to poke this thing with a pointy stick to make it work is just ridiculous.

Hands-on with the Vista Media Center TV Pack {Engadget HD}

Aug 6th 2008 3:08PM This review really does a disservice to the TV pack, because it concentrates on the couple of small-but-important things added for the US market and ignores completely the rest of the world.

The DVB markets got a HUGE upgrade. For the first time, MC is actually usable. We get our guide over the air, we get subtitles, we get multiple languages, and we get support for both DVB satellite and DVB cable, with CAM. As disappointed as I have been in MC up till now, I'm very happy with what's come out in the TV pack. Japan got similar support for ISDB-T. So yeah, QAM and etc. are nice, but this is the release that makes MC a significant player in the whole world, not just one country.

Beta testers are still bound by the NDA and thus can't talk about what isn't there, nor why, nor the reason behind the OEM-only release. But a reasonable person shouldn't have too much trouble putting the new TV support that IS there together with the fast-approaching CEDIA show date and coming up with an educated guess. And then prepare to wait a bit longer for whatever else is on their wish list.

The HD stuff is hard. Remember the Play TV is nearly a year late now because Sony couldn't get their h.264 stuff to work right.

ECS G10IL: Stateside September for $399 {Engadget}

Jul 9th 2008 6:28AM Can they really not come up with a better name for that Linux distribution?

International iPhone pricing guide {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jul 3rd 2008 6:49PM Correction on Spain rumor. Movistar (Telefónica) will offer two data plans:
- 15€, unlimited data but reduced speeds (128K) after 1GB
- 24€, unlimited data but reduced speeds (128K) after 5GB

Both plans include free wifi at Telefónica access points throughout the country (no word on how wifi roaming will work) and can be combined with any voice plan of your choice.

Sony's PlayTV set for July release, UK pre-order now available {Engadget}

Apr 21st 2008 5:31AM Uh, no. It is like double the functionality of WMC itself. Finally Europe is going to get a real guide (WMC does not), subtitles, dual-channel audio, to go along with proper UPNP streaming and built-in Blu-Ray for about the price of one of those Linksys extenders.

Motorola to unveil a slew of new handsets at CTIA? {Engadget}

Mar 11th 2008 12:11PM Dunno...you'd think Motorola would bother to spell "impulsive" correctly in their PR video.

Telefonica announcing 3G iPhone, or 2G iPhone for Latin America, or nothing at MWC {Engadget Mobile}

Jan 28th 2008 11:40AM ...and another thing! The second rumor is likely not true, because Telefnica do not have an EDGE network in Spain. It's GPRS only and let me assure you that iPhone + 33.6kbps is NOT a good user experience.
